Halberds Saddle ParksNRec with 3-1 Loss
|
The Alloway Halberds got a magnificent performance from pitcher Gilberto Ramírez, who stifled the Pawnee offense en route to a 3-1 Halberds win at Whips Ballpark. Ramírez picked up the win for Alloway, going 6 innings. He gave up no runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 3-6. Even with the win, the Halberds have a dismal 12-30 record.
Tied up with the ParksNRec in the top of the fifth inning, the Halberds got a boost from designated hitter Juan Salinas. With a runner on 2nd, Salinas saw a first pitch changeup from Brewster Warble and hit a run-scoring double to break the stalemate and put Alloway on top, 1-0.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Halberds manager Santiago Vargas. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
