Thrilling Walk-Off Win for Disaster
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters got a superb performance from pitcher Bryan Boyd. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Port Royal. The Disaster won the game, 3-2. In spite of the loss, Boyd was named the player of the game. He threw 8 innings of shutout ball. Miguel Hernández picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 6-1. Cherles Gachineiro was tagged with the loss. Port Royal occupies third place in the Silver AAA at 14-12.
The Disaster were down to their final out when second baseman David McJannett turned a 2-1 fastball from Cherles Gachineiro into a 2-run single. The walk-off single made the Ballpark of Port Royal crowd go wild.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," McJannett told the Port Royal Observer.
