Halberds Spoil Opening Day for Supernovas, Their Fans
|
The Scranton Supernovas inaugurated the 2029 campaign with a disappointing 7-1 loss to the Alloway Halberds at Nuclear Stadium. Alloway catcher Phil Sherman had a big impact on the outcome. He went 4 for 5 with 4 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Gilberto Ramírez was the winning pitcher. Over 8.1 innings, he allowed 1 run on 4 hits, with 6 walks and 2 strikeouts.
The tide might have turned with no one out in the bottom of the fourth, had not Gilberto Ramírez made a big pitch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and the Supernovas trailing 4-0, he retired Martín Álvarez, who flied out.
