The Salt Lake City Buzz bested the Phoenix Hotspur Reserves by a score of 6-3, with first baseman Qi-zhen Loong getting the main credit. On the day, Loong was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Buzz. Reliever Rick Kennedy picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. John Ball took the loss. Luis Bejarano recorded his 1st save for Salt Lake City.
Salt Lake City took the lead in the bottom of the seventh. With no one out and the bases loaded, Quigley Gibson stroked a bases-clearing double to make it 6-3, Buzz.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Gibson.
The win takes Salt Lake City to 2-0.
