Garmendia hits 7th home run, Sonics Move to 66-36
|
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Ramón Garmendia, the Atlantic City Sonics defeated the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks, 7-2. Garmendia was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4 for the Sonics. Atlantic City reliever Doppo Omikado was credited with the win, to go to 5-2. Joey Hamman took the loss for Ft. Polk South. Atlantic City is now 66-36, 8½ games up in the Silver AA.
With Atlantic City leading 3-2 in the top of the ninth, Garmendia hit a fastball from Tommy Rowe for a grand slam home run. It was his 7th home run of the season and put the Sonics ahead, 7-2.
"I really like what we did out there today," Garmendia said after the game.
