Loons Win at Atlantic City, 4-2
|
Minnesota Loons starter Lorenzo Díaz pitched a strong game against the Atlantic City Sonics at Sonics Ballpark, leading the Loons to a 4-2 win. The winning pitcher was Díaz, now 5-3. He tossed 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 4. Dominic Parker, credited with the save, is now 9 for 10 in save opportunities.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the sixth, with the game tied, Germán Espantoso was at the plate when Minnesota scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Loons to go in front, 2-1.
In postgame comments to the Minnesota News, Espantoso said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
The 'W' lifts Minnesota's record to 51-38.
