Atlantic City beat Minnesota on the strength of starter Ramón Ocegueda's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 5-2 win. Ocegueda, now 8-4, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 3, and allowing 2 earned runs. Todd Howell was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 9 of 11 save opportunities.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, designated hitter Karl Blanke came through big-time for the Sonics. With Atlantic City leading 3-2, he belted a 2-run home run.
"First place," said Sonics manager Jacob Green. "This is right where we want to be."
Atlantic City is now 54-34, 4 games up in the Silver AA.
