Late Rally by Sixshooters Secures Win
|
The Westwood Sixshooters got a strong performance from pitcher Ray Mangas, who stymied the Irving offense en route to a 4-2 win at Sixshooters Stadium. Bru Sotelo picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-0. Martin Besnier was tagged with the loss. The winning streak has now reached 5 games for Westwood.
The Sixshooters got a big at-bat from shortstop José Vázquez. For the game, Vázquez went 1 for 4 with a double. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 12th double of the season gave Westwood a 3-2 lead.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Mangas told reporters after the game.
