Sixshooters Get Win, Extend Streak to 4
|
The Westwood Sixshooters beat the Irving Blue Sox, 5-4, at Sixshooters Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of center fielder Bob Daugherty, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Antoine Ayuso picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-3. Will Benton was tagged with the loss. Alfonso Santa Maria, credited with the save, is now 25 for 27 in save opportunities.
Daugherty had a game-changing double in the bottom of the seventh. On a 2-2 fastball from Will Benton, he banged a run-scoring double to center, giving the Sixshooters a 5-4 lead. It was the 15th double of the year for Daugherty.
"I felt good up there," said Daugherty. "I saw the ball well."
The 7th-place Sixshooters have won 4 in a row.
