The Durham Rapiers eked out a 4-3 win versus the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks at Rapiers Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Rusty Maxson, who captured player of the game honors. Maxson picked up the win for Durham, going 6 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 6-2. The Rapiers now own a record of 38-34.
The Rapiers got a big at-bat from first baseman Ignacio Hernández. For the game, Hernández went 1-3. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 33rd hit of the season gave Durham a 4-3 lead.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Maxson.
