Irving and Ft. Polk South met at Thunder Hawks Ballpark in front of a lively crowd.

With shortstop Roberto López leading the charge, the Irving Blue Sox defeated the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks, 9-7, at Thunder Hawks Ballpark. López was 1 for 2 with a home run and 3 walks, while scoring 3 times. Armando Cruz earned the win to go to 5-2. He allowed 7 earned runs on 9 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Francis Cahill closed the door for Irving, picking up his 1st save of the year.

Wessel Wemerman, who is tied for 4th in the SAA in extra base hits with 19, helped out the Irving cause in the top of the seventh inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the right fielder went 1-3 with a walk.

"We swung the bats pretty good throughout the lineup," said Irving skipper John Parkinson.
