Boyer Delivers Clutch At-Bat for Irving in Walk-Off Win
|
The Irving Blue Sox got a magnificent performance from pitcher Morihiro Sai, who muffled the Tacoma offense en route to a tight 2-1 Blue Sox win at Blue Sox Ballpark. Irving reliever Martin Besnier picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jeff Pearce absorbed the loss. Tacoma, at 10-14, has lost 4 straight.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Irving shortstop Tom Boyer, facing Jeff Pearce, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Blue Sox the 2-1 win.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Boyer told the Irving Times.
