The Athletic Club KC Academy faced a tough opponent in Irving pitcher Morihiro Sai, but did just enough to pull out the victory at KC Academy Field by a final score of 2-1. Sai went 6 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Athletic Club KC Academy reliever Rubén Rivera picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Francisco García shouldered the loss. Even with the win, it has been a disastrous start to the year for the Athletic Club KC Academy, who once had aspirations of returning to the playoffs but now find themselves mired in 8th place at 3-7.
Athletic Club KC Academy took the lead in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and a runner on 2nd, Dewey Nauss stroked a run-scoring single to make it 2-1, Athletic Club KC Academy.
"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Nauss.
