Eisse Cals made an impact in the 5-4 Irving win over Lancaster. Cals, who is rated as the 98th best prospect by BNN, went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Irving reliever Marcos Sarmiento picked up the win to move to 1-1. Raúl Nieto suffered the loss. Irving has a record of 6-3.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Irving third baseman Lúcio Gonzáles, facing Raúl Nieto, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Blue Sox the 5-4 win.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Irving manager John Parkinson.
