Deuces Get Past Springfield for 4-3 Win
|
The Virginia Beach Deuces got their 2029 M3L Double A season off to a good start, defeating the Springfield Shooters, 4-3. Stephen McManus went 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. For his pace-setting performance, he was named player of the game.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Virginia Beach third baseman Ramón Castro, facing Ieyoshi Asai, had a run-scoring ground out. It gave the Deuces the 4-3 win.
Springfield manager John Carney said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
