Longnecks Edge Past Belugas, 2-1
|
Bloomington starter Gabriel Valenzuela pitched effectively against the Brinkley Belugas at Belugas Ballpark. The left-hander led his team to a 2-1 win. The first-place Longnecks, at 66-31, now lead their division by 11 games.
Chet Hollis made it 2-1 in favor of Bloomington when he delivered a run-scoring single. It came with one out in the top of the 16th. The red-hot Longnecks went on to win.
"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said Valenzuela. "Successful pitchers do it."
