Florida got a terrific game from designated hitter Spencer Landes. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Brinkley, 11-8. Landes was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 4 for 4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs. António Rúbio earned the save for Brinkley, his 9th of the year. Brinkley is now 32-39, while Florida is 31-40.
The Belugas got a lift from second baseman Wu-shiun Wang who had a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the first inning off Arturo Guerrero. It was his 15th walk of the season and put Brinkley in front, 1-0.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Florida manager Sandy Hampton. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
