Longnecks Beat Golden Cranes, 6-3
|
Bloomington first baseman Gabrio Campoverde made his presence felt in the 6-3 Longnecks triumph over the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes. Campoverde went 3-3 with a triple, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Bob Mullinax got the win, improving to 2-0. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 5 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 0. Leroy Picot earned the save for Bloomington, his 3rd of the year.
Bloomington third baseman Arturo Acevedo helped the Longnecks go up, 4-2, in the bottom of the fourth inning. With the game tied, Acevedo hit a 2-run single off Santa Barbara pitcher Gilberto Medina.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Campoverde.
Bloomington goes to 45-24. The win puts them 8 games up in their division.
