Big Day by Ingram Sparks Fighting Dachsunds Win
|
The Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds grabbed a 13-6 win over the Brinkley Belugas at Belugas Ballpark. Ellenburg designated hitter Steve Ingram went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4 to earn player of the game honors. Danny Bystrom, who went 6.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 6 runs on 7 hits, while walking 6 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 6-8. The save went to Vincent Bannon, his 1st this season.
Ted Tullo had a big 2-run single for the Fighting Dachsunds in the top of the second inning. With Ellenburg leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Alejandro Araya and stroked the single to right. It was his 3rd hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Fighting Dachsunds ahead, 3-0.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Nathan Austin said.
Ellenburg is 35-30 and Brinkley, with the loss, 28-37.
