Longnecks Score Late, Upend Coyotes, 5-4
|
The Bloomington Longnecks topped the Hamilton Coyotes by the score of 5-4, with the biggest share of the credit going to left fielder Darrell Terwey. Terwey went 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs for the Longnecks on the day. Bloomington reliever Vincente Ortíz picked up the win to move to 2-0. Ken Frost suffered the loss. Bloomington leads the Menard's AAA by 3˝ games.
The Longnecks got a lift from pinch hitter Charles Mathes who had a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the eighth inning off Ken Frost. It was his 3rd RBI of the season and put Bloomington in front, 5-4.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Mathes said.
