The Bloomington Longnecks did just enough to secure a 6-5 victory over the Brinkley Belugas at Belugas Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Giovanni Mireles, who captured player of the game honors. Fred Pitts recorded his 4th save for Bloomington. Brinkley's current losing streak is now 5 games.
Bloomington took a 6-5 lead on Benedict Patel's 21st hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Patel hit in the top of the ninth, left Brinkley pitcher Peter Hall visibly frustrated.
In postgame comments to the Bloomington News, Patel said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
