Golden Cranes Subdue Brinkley, 2-0
|
Brinkley got a terrific performance from pitcher Esteban Gómez, but it wasn't enough to beat the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes. Santa Barbara won the Crane Field contest, 2-0. Gómez was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball. Santa Barbara reliever Luis Ramos picked up the win to move to 1-0. Esteban Gómez suffered the loss. Albert Emery picked up the save, his 5th.
Santa Barbara left fielder James Pike helped the Golden Cranes go up, 2-0, in the bottom of the fourth inning. With the game tied, Pike hit a 2-run double off Brinkley pitcher Esteban Gómez.
"It all depends on which version of our team shows up," said Pike. "When we put it all together, I think we're a great team."
Santa Barbara is now 11-10, Brinkley 7-14.
