Doubledays Edge Red Pandas, 3-2
|
The exploits of right fielder John Burton, who is rated as the 3rd best prospect by BNN, helped the Tremont Doubledays defeat the Sioux Falls Red Pandas, 3-2. Burton went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Getting the save was Powell Beauregard, his 6th. Tremont, now 12-7, has played well in the early going.
The most important at-bat for Tremont came in the top of the ninth inning, when left fielder Arturo Morales stroked a 1-2 cutter to center for a run-scoring single, putting Tremont up, 3-2.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Tremont manager Lendon Tipton. "Our pregame was pretty good."
