The Brinkley Belugas defeated the Hialeah Dodos, 6-4. Earning player of the game honors was catcher Lorenzo Ramírez, who was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Alonso Cruz picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-1. He struck out 2 in 5.1 innings. Picking up the save was Carlos Padrón, his 1st.
The Belugas got a lift from second baseman Parker Smith who had a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the first inning off Miguel López. It was his 9th walk of the season and put Brinkley in front, 1-0.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Smith told the Brinkley Daily.
The Belugas, now 6-12, have not found much traction so far in 2029.
