Longnecks Take Nail-Biter Over Timber Hawks
|
The Bloomington Longnecks topped the Augusta Timber Hawks by the score of 10-7, with the largest share of the credit going to shortstop Billy Dotson. Dotson went 4-4 with a double, 3 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 5 runs for the Longnecks. Bloomington reliever Bob Weatherall picked up the win to move to 1-0. Jeff Krause suffered the loss. The Longnecks, now 9-4, have been on a roll in the early going.
Bloomington won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With two outs and Jeff Krause on the mound for Augusta, center fielder Gabrio Campoverde hit a dramatic 3-run home run, bringing Longnecks fans to their feet.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Campoverde.
