Haapajarvi Touches All Bases, Hits for Cycle
Tuesday, July 11th, 2028
It was a quite a day for Ilkka Haapajarvi at Idaho Falls Park!
He hit for the cycle, belting out every kind of hit there is in a baseball game -- single, double, triple and a home run. The Idaho Falls shortstop accomplished the rare feat during his team's 9-4 victory over the Washington Generals.

He told BNN reporters at the postgame press conference, "I never even thought about hitting for the cycle and what do you know, I did it. The cycle really doesn't matter to me, it is the 4 hits and the win that are important. But I guess it will be nice to see my name in the record book."

Haapajarvi went 4-for-5 in the game with 1 run batted in and 3 runs scored.

Ilkka Haapajarvi doubled in the 2nd, tripled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Wendell Clingan in the 6th, singled in the 7th and struck out in the 8th.

This season Haapajarvi has delivered 42 hits in 156 at-bats for a .269 average with 1 home run. He is getting on base at a .317 clip and his totals also include 14 RBIs and 13 runs scored. This year Haapajarvi has played in 52 games.
