Rinck Stretches Hit String to 20
Tuesday, July 11th, 2028
Hammond's 23-year-old center fielder Bill Rinck has had a fine run at the plate over the last few weeks. His consecutive-game hitting streak has reached 20 games now. Today Rinck extended the streak by going 1-for-5 against Expos pitching. The streak has brought him a degree of attention that he has tried to deflect. Rinck always prefers to talk about his teammates' accomplishments rather than his own. After the Herons 8-4 triumph over Niagara Falls at Waterfall Park he downplayed his part in the victory. Bill Rinck grounded out in the 1st, grounded out in the 4th, singled in the 5th, flied out in the 7th and struck out in the 9th.
Currently Rinck is batting .312 with 40 hits and no home runs. He has knocked in 10 runs and scored 23 times.
