Austin got a terrific performance from pitcher Art Adams, but it wasn't enough to beat the Richardson City Thundercats. Richardson City won the Rangers Stadium contest, 6-4. Adams was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 8 innings of 3-hit ball. With the loss, Austin drops to 10-9.
Had it not been for Louis Gibbons, the results might have been different. In the top of the eighth inning, when the Thundercats were trailing 3-2, Gibbons hit a bases-clearing triple for Richardson City, giving his team the lead.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Gibbons told the Richardson City Gazette.
