Grey Wolves Fall to Nuggets, 5-4
|
The Rocky Mountain Nuggets defeated the Vancouver Grey Wolves, 5-4, in Silver League action at Wolf Den in Vancouver. Roberto Salazar received player of the game honors. The 11-year veteran was 3-5 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Rafael Rivera was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. Jorge Garza earned the save for Rocky Mountain, his 19th of the year.
Manuel Becerra, not known for his power, had a big at-bat with two out in the top of the sixth. That's when he connected on a slider from Erasmo Monteagudo for a solo home run. His 1st home run of the season put Rocky Mountain in front, 2-1.
"I'm glad we can make our fans happy with a win," Salazar told the Rocky Mountain Gazette.
The Nuggets saw their win-loss record go to 39-36. At the same time, the Grey Wolves fall to 33-42.
