Middies Bump Off Cattlemen, 9-5

The Grafton Middies powered past the Ft. Worth Cattlemen, 9-5, at Field of the Middies. Ramón Gómez went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2, to lead the charge. Grafton starter Luis Torres was credited with the win after throwing 120 pitches over 8 innings. His record now stands at 2-0. The Middies raised their record to 23-34.
The Grafton triumph was a team effort. It included several important contributors, Stefano Gaddi not least among them. In the bottom of the third, the Grafton third baseman came to bat and hit a run-scoring double. It staked his team to a 1-0 lead.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Grafton manager Bill Cefaratti.
