Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Oaks
|
Oakland pitcher Merlin Bassett did his part in helping his team beat the Ft. Worth Cattlemen, 4-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Oakland reliever Júlio Maes got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Juan Díaz was tagged with the loss. José Caballero recorded his 6th save for Oakland.
Oakland took a 4-3 lead on Jorge Vargas's 4th home run of the season. The solo home run came off Ft. Worth pitcher Juan Díaz in the top of the eighth.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Oakland Oaks manager DAshley GoAs. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
Oakland currently is in 9th place in the Silver League at 18-27.
