Oaks Suffer 6-2 Setback
|
Rocky Mountain left-hander Vincent Hall made an effective start against the Oakland Oaks at Nuggets Park, leading his team to a 6-2 win. The winning pitcher was Hall, now 4-5. He tossed 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. Rocky Mountain has now won 4 games in a row.
Tied up with the Oaks in the bottom of the fifth, the Nuggets got a boost from right fielder Roberto Salazar. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Salazar saw a 1-2 forkball from Merlin Bassett and hit a run-scoring double to break the stalemate and put Rocky Mountain on top, 2-1.
Oakland manager DAshley GoAs said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
