The Richland Rails and Durham Rapiers provided some drama at Rails Ballpark.
Getting a good performance from first baseman Vincent Klein, the Durham Rapiers defeated the Richland Rails, 6-3. Klein went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Rapiers. Briggs Bourgeois recorded his 33rd save for Durham.
Klein had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 2-2 fastball from Russ Melton, he banged a 3-run home run to left-center, giving the Rapiers a 6-3 lead. It was the 12th home run of the year for Klein.
"This was a good win for us," said Klein. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
The Rapiers raised their record to 63-40.
