Smoke Stick Rainbow Mermaids with 6-4 Loss
|
The Atlanta Smoke and Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids obliged those fans who came to Atlantica looking for a good time.
Northern Virginia first baseman Roberto Sánchez was sensational. He was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Atlanta beat the Rainbow Mermaids, 6-4. Sánchez was named the player of the game despite the loss. Iván García, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 5th save.
Also contributing to the win was third baseman Yataro Kodo, who stroked a 3-run home run in the top of the third for Atlanta. For the game, Kodo went 1 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"Good win," said Kodo. "Maybe some of the whiners in the clubhouse will pipe down now for a little while."
With the win, Atlanta boosts its record to 8-6.
