Middies Raise Rally Flag, Beat Oakland, 5-4
|
The Grafton Middies turned back the Oakland Oaks, 5-4, at Field of the Middies. Pedro Santos was named player of the game for his fine performance. He went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Lynwood Matos, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 5th save. The 7th-place Middies improved to 11-13.
Ramón Gómez contributed a productive at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got hit by a pitch. It was one at-bat that propelled Grafton to the win.
"Good win for us," said Gómez. "We'll lace up our cleats and go after the next one."
