The Nebraska Plainsmen did just enough to secure a 3-2 victory over the Athletic Club KC U-21 at ACKC Youth Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Ramón Luér, who captured player of the game honors. The win was credited to Ken Swander in relief. His record improves to 5-2. Ánibal Acejedo took the loss. The Plainsmen' win now puts them at 49-39.
The most critical at-bat came in the top of the 12th inning. With two out, Bob Knutson hit a 1-2 curveball from Ánibal Acejedo for a run-scoring single. It put Nebraska in front, 3-2.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Luér.
