Nuggets Topple Cattlemen with Late Rally
|
The Ft. Worth Cattlemen got a superb performance from pitcher Jorge Rivera. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Rocky Mountain. The Nuggets won the game, 3-1. In spite of the loss, Rivera was named the player of the game. He threw 8 innings of 5-hit ball. Jorge Garza got credit for the save for Rocky Mountain. It was his 5th of the year. Rocky Mountain is 9-13 and Ft. Worth, with the loss, 10-12.
The most important at-bat for Rocky Mountain came in the top of the ninth inning, when first baseman Javier Sánchez stroked a 0-1 curveball to right for a 3-run home run, putting Rocky Mountain up, 3-1.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Sánchez, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
