River Rats Walk Off with Win
|
The Columbia River Rats defeated the Yellowknife Dragonblood, 2-1, in USPL Single A action at Columbia Stadium, with Columbia pitcher Toshiharu Kuhabara named player of the game. Columbia reliever Marvin Wasmund picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Shusaku Kobayashi absorbed the loss. Columbia's record now stands at 51-27, placing them first in the Premier A.
Columbia won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. That's when pinch hitter Ken Barrett hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing River Rats fans to their feet.
"We did just enough to win," said Kuhabara.
