Athletic Club KC Beats Gwinnett County, 6-4
|
Athletic Club KC U-21 starter Ismael Calderón pitched a strong game against the Gwinnett County Black Cats at ACKC Youth Field, leading the U-21 to a 6-4 win. Calderón went 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 10. His record improves to 6-3. Kamisese Alohinani, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 10th save.
A key at-bat came in the bottom of the fourth inning. With the bases loaded, the batter, Dewey Nauss, got hit by a pitch, driving in 1 run. It made the score 2-1, Athletic Club KC, and helped them go on to win.
In postgame remarks, Nauss said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
The U-21 now have a record of 36-39 with the win over Gwinnett County.
