Hotspur U-21 Stick Plainsmen with 4-1 Loss
|
"Getting ahead of the hitters is the key," said Ruíz.
The Phoenix Hotspur U-21 picked up a win at Plain Old Stadium, knocking off the Nebraska Plainsmen, 4-1. On the mound for Phoenix was right-hander José Ruíz, who played a pivotal role in the win. Ken Morrison recorded his 2nd save for Phoenix.
Kyle Vandusen was a key contributor to the win for the Hotspur U-21. In the top of the sixth with two out, the light-hitting designated hitter stroked a single to right. He was 1 for 3 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Vandusen told the Phoenix Observer.
The Hotspur U-21 raised their record to 34-27.
