Phoenix Hotspur U-21 starter Jorge Cruzan turned in a sterling performance against the Mt. Vernon Bulls, leading his team to a slim 2-1 win. Kenny Kawaguchi was credited with the save for Phoenix, his 12th of the season. The 'W' lifts Phoenix's record to 33-27.

Bill Poole's at-bat in the bottom of the third was significant, coming with a runner on 2nd and the game tied, 0-0. The Phoenix catcher hit a run-scoring single off Joseph Barrier to put the Hotspur U-21 up.

"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Cruzan.
