The Nebraska Plainsmen defeated the Chicago Tula, 2-1, in USPL Single A action at Ramblers Ballpark, with Nebraska pitcher Markus Visser named player of the game. I-tsing Ts'ong was called on to finish, recording his 9th save. Their 17-18 record puts the Plainsmen 8th in the Premier A.
Nebraska took a 2-1 lead on Elian Gonzalez's 23rd hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Gonzalez hit in the top of the seventh, left Chicago pitcher Iwane Chihara shaking his head.
Said Nebraska manager John Hill: "I tell our guys all the time: 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction.'"
