Black Cats Rally For Late Win Over U-21
|
Gwinnett County left fielder Matt Jeong played a vital role in his team's 3-1 triumph over Athletic Club KC. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for Gwinnett County. Gwinnett County reliever Armond Bocci picked up the win to move to 1-1. Ben Skelton suffered the loss. Ming-hoa Zhou picked up the save, his 10th.
The outcome might have been different had it not been for Jeong. In the bottom of the eighth inning, when the Black Cats were trailing 1-0, Jeong delivered a two-out 3-run home run for Gwinnett County, giving his team the lead.
"We'll savor this win," Jeong told the Gwinnett County Observer, "then get ready for the next game."
Gwinnett County, now 16-15, holds 6th place in the Premier A.
