River Rats Defeat Tula, 6-2
|
The Chicago Tula and Columbia River Rats provided some drama at Ramblers Ballpark.
The River Rats grabbed a 6-2 win at Ramblers Ballpark, overcoming a fine effort from Chicago pitcher Santiago Ramírez. Ramírez went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Columbia reliever Sergio Puente got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Santiago Ramírez was tagged with the loss.
Lucas Ruts was a key contributor to the win for the River Rats. In the top of the seventh with one out, the light-hitting pinch hitter stroked a single to center. He was 1-1, while adding 2 RBI.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Ruts told the Columbia Daily News. "It's as simple as that."
The win lifts Columbia to a record of 6-4.
