Hotspur U-21 Fall to Blaze, 6-4
|
The South Beach Blaze topped the Phoenix Hotspur U-21, 6-4, with Martinus Xhaka playing a big role. Xhaka went 2 for 3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Blaze in the win. José Sauls got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. Harrison Tuff locked down his 1st save.
Xhaka came through with some timely hitting for South Beach. With the score 4-2 in the bottom of the third and no one down, Xhaka hit a 1-2 cutter for a 2-run triple. It was his 1st triple of the season -- and a big reason the Blaze managed to win.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Xhaka told the South Beach Bulletin.
Things have gone south in a hurry for the defending champion Blaze, who notched only their 2nd win in 5 games.
