Dragonblood Cut Down Cauldrons, 7-5
|
Hogsmeade second baseman Damon Newbold had a terrific game. He was 4-4 with a triple and 3 singles. He scored 3 runs, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Yellowknife beat the Cauldrons, 7-5. Newbold was named the player of the game despite the loss. Roberto Muñóz recorded the save for Yellowknife, his 1st of the season. The Yellowknife Dragonblood, now 3-0, have been on a roll in the early going.
A key at-bat in the game came in the bottom of the third inning when the Dragonblood sent teenager Riley Walker to the plate against Cauldrons hurler Ollie McDaniell. With the bases loaded and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a 1-0 circle change to score 1.
"They played a better game than we did," said Hogsmeade skipper .
