Black Cats Get Past Phoenix for 4-2 Win
Gwinnett County and Phoenix duked it out at Pipers Ballpark and the Black Cats came out victorious.

The Gwinnett County Black Cats defeated the Phoenix Hotspur U-21, 4-2, in USPL Single A action at Pipers Ballpark, with Gwinnett County pitcher Rich Choquette named player of the game. Choquette went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 1-0. Ming-hoa Zhou earned the save, his 1st.

Late in the game, pinch hitter Pedro Castro had a big at-bat for Gwinnett County. In the bottom of the eighth, he hit a 2-run single off Leon von Stroheim. The play gave the Black Cats a 4-2 lead.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Castro.

Gwinnett County, at 2-0, has sizzled in the early going.
