Airmen Prevail, 10-7, Over Walla Walla
|
Alameda starter Glenn Wimmer had a strong outing against the Walla Walla Walleye at Walleye Tank. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 10-7 win. Wimmer was the winning pitcher and moves to 3-1. He threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 4 walks. Marvin Cahill, credited with the save, is now 7 for 9 in save opportunities.
Gérard Chesnutt contributed an important at-bat in the top of the seventh. With a runner on 2nd, he hit a run-scoring double. It was one at-bat that helped send Alameda to the win.
"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Wimmer, "but we got it done."
With the win, the Airmen improved to 52-43.
