Luis Torrez pitched a gem to lead Kennesaw to a 4-1 victory over the Walla Walla Walleye. The winning pitcher was Torrez, now 5-12. He tossed 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 5 and fanning 6. Jong-yun Chong got credit for the save for Kennesaw. It was his 15th of the year.
José Leyva didn't waste any time giving his team the lead. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a run-scoring double to put Kennesaw on top, 1-0.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Leyva.
The win puts the Jets at 36-57, while the Walleye drop to 42-51.
