The Generals had to overcome a good performance from Syracuse pitcher Rich McLean to claim a 2-1 win at Storm Park. McLean went 7 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. The Generals now have a record of 56-37 with the win over Syracuse.
Also making an impact was left fielder Mike Lipide, who drilled a run-scoring single in the top of the second for Washington. For the game, Lipide went 1-3.
"We've got a great group of guys," Lipide said, "and we're having fun right now."
